Day One (Saturday, September 18, 2010)
We were planning on leaving around 12:00, but we were late, as usual. I think it was around 3:30 or 4 when we finally left Chatty. I wanted to take (the more scenic) Route 23, so I could take Denise and Brandon to see Yatesville Lake, near Louisa, KY, for their first time. After our 30-minute break we got back on 23, and were really close to Ashland, KY (our "halfway there marker") when, all of a sudden, a huge car wreck detoured us. We had to turn around, and go all the way back to Fort Gay, and go down Route 52 on the West Virginia side of the river... Delaying us for about an hour and a half! After putting a fussy baby to sleep, and changing four or five dirty diapers, and eating we made it to Dayton at about 11:45. We could have made it halfway to Alaska in that time!
Day Two
We bought this nifty little portable broadband modem for our new laptop (which we bought on September 15) at Radio Shack. Then, we went to Jack's Pet Shop. Brandon was scared to death of the cats and dogs there, but he loved the fish. We had to go to the next-door Walmart to buy a few things, and looked at some more fish in there (I'm planning on buying a big fish tank as soon as possible. I miss having fish!). We topped off the evening with a romantic dinner at Big Boy (Man, them hot fudge cakes is tasty!).
Day Three
We went to the HUGE Fairfield Commons Mall. We bought a few outfits for Brandon, went in a pet shop called "Fetch," looked at the funny stuff in Spencer's Gifts, and went to a cool hippy-trippy shop called "Nirvana." Then, we went back to our ever-present Walmart.
Day Four
Quiet day. We just sat around and took it easy, for the most part. We went to a park near Denise's mom's house. Brandon loves swings! And later on this day, September 21, Brandon learned how to crawl!
Day Five
We went to the Newport Aquarium in Newport, KY (right across the river from Cincinnati, OH). As much as Brandon loves swinging, he loves fishes even more! He kept slapping the tanks, and saying, "Fishes, fishes, fishes!" Afterward, we went in some little Newport shops. I got tons of candy in the candy shop, and one of the best ice cream cones I've ever had in my life at Cold Stone Creamery. OREO OVERLOAD!!! The drive back to Dayton was a pain! Rush hour...
